Shortages at the Polls

Election authorities violate our rights when voters are turned away from the polls due to long lines, broken machines, and shortages of ballots and election workers. Shortages are most likely to happen in voting districts that are predominantly poor and racial minorities. Millions of voters will be unable to cast their ballots because they cannot wait for hours for more ballots and/or poll workers to arrive or the machines to be fixed. Broken machines can also cause polling sites to open late, which shortens the number of hours that citizens will have to vote.
